An international NGO drilled a new borehole in Kiwangaza. For a time, the borehole brought Kiwangaza safe water and hope for a better future. Unfortunately, the borehole broke down often and the community eventually gave up on raising money to repair it.
When their borehole was broken, Kiwangaza’s residents struggled to fetch safe water. Some walked over 2 hours to fetch from the next closest borehole. Those who couldn’t make the long journey fetched from a local swamp that made them sick.
When Kiwangaza learned about AquaTrust, they enrolled right away! AquaTrust technicians rehabilitated the borehole in Kiwangaza and have kept water flowing ever since. Now, the residents of Kiwangaza rest assured that their borehole will provide safe water close to their homes whenever they need it.
